The Golgi apparatus is an organelle present in eukaryotic cells having stacks of membranous sacs. The Golgi body or Golgi apparatus modifies, sort and package the proteins for the secretion.
The major function is to modify the proteins, sorting them and packaging them, that comes from the endoplasmic reticulum. The folds of the Golgi are called cisternae which also involved in the transport of molecules and producing lysosomes.
