Tom is a dreamer, and Huck is always the practical or pragmatic person. Unlike Tom, Huck's life is uncomplicated. He has no ambition, no desire to be civilized. Tom and Huck are two very different people, which is probably what makes them such good friends. Tom aspires to be Huck and Huck aspires to be Tom. They both love adventures but besides that Huck learns about respect and how to treat others while Tom doesn't care about anyone but himself.
