Limestone is a sedimentary rock that is formed from the collection of organic elements such as shells of organisms, along with other sediments. They are made up of calcium carbonate and these sediments are compacted and solidified and forms limestone over a specific period of time.

On the other hand, Quartzite is a metamorphic rock that forms when quartz rich sandstone undergoes metamorphism. They contain abundant quartz, which is a hard and resistant mineral.

Limestone is weathered at a much faster rate than Quartzite.

Limestone breaks down by chemical weathering process when rain water containing carbonic acid precipitates and falls over the surface of the rock. Whereas, quartzite is comprised of quartz that is comparatively dense, hard and resistant. So, they are affected at a much slower rate.

These tetrapyrroles are very similar to the chromophores of chlorophylls in plants.
