Poetry is one of the ways that a writer can express himself and the other two main ways are through the use of prose and drama.

This refers to the use of words to covey the thoughts and feelings of a poet using stanzas and verses.

Poets can write out their thoughts using free verse or they can make use of rhymes and they also have what is called poetic licence which they can write however they like, either <em>structured or unstructured. </em>
