2. I sudddenly remembered when I lost my lover, Lenore.

3. I was scared the visitor might be her ghost.

4. I asked if anybody was out there, but there was no-one when I opened the door.

5. I felt anxious, and could not stop thinking about Lenore.

6. There was another noise on the window, and I pretended it was the wind.

7. A raven then came and stood silently above my chamber door.

8. I asked the raven about its name, and it just said "Nevermore".

9. I was surprised to hear this answer.

10. It seemed as if "Nevermore" was the only word it could say.

11. I thought maybe his former master had taught him that word.

12. I sat and thought what the raven could mean by saying this.

13. I stayed there for quite a while, lost in my own thoughts.

14. I asked the raven to forget about Lenore, if that was the reason of its visitation, but it just said "Nevermore".
