Answer:
I was born in peace in Vietnam, but every second in my life was exchanged by millions of sacrifices of our ancestors in the previous decades. Backward on 30th April ,1975, the event that marked the end of Vietnamese war is also the day that communist dictatorship came in power. Although I was taught that event at school, all I knew about that is just the surface of an iceberg. When I thoroughly read that event on the internet, I realized that only do I study all viewpoints, I have a bigger picture of an event.
I will tell you about an important day of our history that did not, do not and will never exist in our history books. The reason for that is because our books just tell you good things about the government, very little or almost nothing about the dark sides. However, I will tell you about both sides of Vietnamese-American war. It was the day when millions of people were happy is also the one that made millions sad. Perhaps you are asking yourself why we were sad on the independent day. It is because people who worked for the US, which means betrayed our country, have been undergoing dark days for years. Can you imagine that thousands of people took on boats despite storms and pirates to get out of their hometown? Yes, it was political immigration. What made they scare to escape at any cost? The fate of the rest is either in the concentration camp or in the forest working extremely hard as slaves until they die, furthermore, their children will struggle to access education and then develop their career because the government ticked a dark point due to their political background. Another reason why many people are nostalgic about the day before that event is because of communist dictatorship. Although the US invaded Vietnam for natural resources, they did many good things such as infrastructure investment or healthcare development. Moreover, right before the time that event occurred and gradually after that, the US government took all people working for them to their country, gave them education and job opportunities nearly as equally as their citizens. By contrast, to be honest, what the government has done for our country since that day is more destructive than constructive. You know, when the power is in hand of a few people, it is very easy for corruption to happen. Therefore, the government benefits for themselves more than for their people.
I grew up in a careless way ignoring that a majority of my people suffered like that. I think independence is necessary, but forgiveness is also important. We should put all hatred aside to together develop our country. The war against invaders ends, but I really do not want that the war among our people still lasts for long. The true peace is when we forgive, accept all differences and go ahead together. I tell this message from my country with the hope for the peace in all around the world.
