At the beginning of the story, Jem is prejudiced of Boo, and he considers him a scary isolated ghost. Jem's feelings begin to change after strange and secluded Boo saves him from Bob, who has attacked him and his sister Scout. In the assault, Boo kills Bob with a knife to rescue the children. After the incident, Jem realizes Boo is a worthy person.
The story suggests that people should not have preasumed opinions that are not based on reason or experience. As a result, the best way to understand people who are different from us is not to judge others before we get to know them.
