Here is a villanelle that I wrote for English this year (villanelle is a Elizabethan format of 19 lined poems with two rhyming schemes throughout)
Try
your best to enjoy life, while it last,
Time
is not a battle that can be fought,
Since
one cannot travel back to the past.
Under
the sad, dim, moonlight, shadow cast,
Standing
and pondering in the empty lot,
Try
your best to enjoy life, while it last,
As we
stare at consequences, aghast,
We
reflect on what we did, chilling thought.
Since
one cannot travel back to the past.
Marveling
nature, who sure holds us fast,
We
think we are just so small, trapped and caught.
Try
your best to enjoy life, while it last,
We
plan for the future, try to forecast,
Make
sure we have everything in their spot.
Since
one cannot travel back to the past.
However,
we are all enthusiast,
In
this world where nature set up the plot.
Try
your best to enjoy life, while it last,
Since
one cannot travel back to the past.
