In "The Black Cat", by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator's participation in the cat's death foreshadows

In this short story, the narrator starts saying that he is about to be hanged the day after he wants to give a detailed description of the occurrences that led to his confinement. He himself is going to be hanged as punishment for his crimes, the same way in which he hanged Pluto, his first black cat.
