Historically, African elephants have had large ivory tusks. For many years, poachers (illegal hunters) have been killing elephan
ts that have large tusks so they could sell the ivory, which is valuable. Now many African elephants have small tusks or do not develop tusks at all. Which of the following is true? The trait of tusk size in elephants has changed over time.
Poaching has had no effect on the size of elephant tusks.
Elephants without tusks are more likely to be hunted than elephants with large tusks.
A. Elephants with no or small tusks survive to reproduce and pass on their trait because they are not poached. (Natural selection). So it has changed overtime.
The correct answer is B, I know this because none of the other answers are even reasonable. For example- A is wrong because the size of elephant tusk has not changed over time, elephant tusk just grow... C is wrong because it makes no sense to hunt elephants with no tusk :/ D is completely wrong because tusk have nothing to do with reproduction, those are two completely separate bodily functions.........
