There were some aspects in Shaw's play that were similar to the Pygmalion myth like how they view women. They both have the same point of view of women- skeptical and sarcastic. However, they both differ on how they carved their ideal women and how these women come to life. In Shaw's play, Galatea developed her own soul and independence whereas, in the story, Pygmalion prayed to Aphrodite to give her life.
