Almost all living being on the earth has the mentality to continue the race. This is why many say that humans, as well as animals, are sex-driven, and that in growing up, their sexual hormones will also become bigger (until it reaches its peak somewhere around early middle-age). Without this mentality, the group will always die out. Their next mentality is similar, to survive. This mentality essentially is just adding more steps to the first one, to survive long enough to reproduce and continue the race.
