The water in water faucet comes from oceans indirectly through the process of water cycle and network of public and private water distribution pipelines.
Explanation:
The water in our water faucet comes from the Ocean. However, the process is a bit cyclical (includes water cycle in reality- evaporation from the ocean and other water bodies, condensation and then rain). This can be explained in the following steps-
Step 1- Water from the oceans (humongous water bodies) gets evaporated under the influence of sunlight and wind.
Step 2- These evaporated water vapours, condense and forms a cloud. After they become too heavy, they rain over land and ocean alike.
Step 3- Rainwater gets collected in depressions, lakes and other places which are eventually carried out to groundwater and lakes.
Step 4-Public body (involved in supplying water) pumps water from reservoirs and lakes and distribute them to the households in-lieu of monthly charges.
Step 5-Water gets stored temporarily at the individual water tank in each house from where water faucet receives water supply.
