This is a story that shows kindness, that shows its not always to late to start a new life.
In England, 1965. There lived a man named Bryce. He was no ordinary man, nor humane. He was a robber a killer, nothing more than a heartless man possessed by the thought of riches.
"Ah, It's about time I do my weekly crime of breaking and entering. For how else will I provide for myself?" So there he set off, hoping to find a empty house, if not a house owner vulnerable to his manipulation. He shan't forget that if nothing went well, he always had his gun in the back pocket of his trousers.
Bryce flinched as the creaking of the door ceased after quite a few seconds, that was a noise pretty hard to ignore. Bryce hoped the owner thought he was nothing more than a beggar, with there usual attempts to get inside houses. He tip-toed up the stars, and carefully removed his gun from his pocket and loaded. He slowly turned the corner, there he found an old man.
"Ah, well, theres not much choice for me but to give all my wealth. Despite my lack of it." Pointed out the old man
"Yes, yes. Hand it over!" Snarled Bryce.
"I'm Sean, would you like to sit down for tea?" Asked the old man called Sean
Instead of the expected emotion to surface, anger, that didn't happen. Something made this man different in Bryce's eyes. Was it a lack of fear for death. Or was it his kindness.?
Suspicious as he was, Bryce needed something to quench his thirst. "Why not?" Said Bryce and he proceeded to sit aware that it might be a trap.
As Sean handed Bryce his mug of tea, he sat down with him. Before any real conversation could start, "switch mugs" demanded Bryce.
"Ah, wise and cautious man" Noted Sean, he seemed to has extreme interest in Bryce.
"There is one thing, and one thing only I want to know." Said Sean pausing to give time for Bryce to say something in response.
"That may be?" Inquired Bryce.
"Why do you do what you do? You rob and and kill without mercy, as if you have no conscious."
Bryce thought for a second. "You know I've never quite thought about that myself." Said Bryce truthfully.
"Maybe you should try it, Eh?" Said Sean
"Aye" Said Bryce
They exchanged interested but nervous glances at each other.
"Now" said Sean "I would like to help you." he continued "I think it is never to late to start a new life even if you are on the verge of its end."
"I know of nothing to help me, for I have never learned to abide by a law, only break them."
"Indeed. That is where I come into play, I can help."
Something inside Bryce felt different, he felt this man actually wanted him to give him a new chance, a new beginning.
From there on out, Bryce was a peaceful man, he always saw reason. All thanks to his kind mentor Sean.
