The statement that an ability of ion depends on its charge density can be understood by its relation to its definition where charge density refers to the ratio of charge of ions to its volume.

The main difference between hydrolysis and hydration is that hydrolysis includes the split of a water molecule whereas hydration does not always include the split of a water molecule.
