In DNA, thymine binds to adenine, and cytosine binds to guanine. This means that there is an equal amount of thymine and adenine, and there is an equal amount of cytosine and guanine.
If there is 15% thymine, there should be 15% adenine.
Note that in real life, the percentage of bases won't be 100% equal.
The molecular clock has been useful to determine the phylogenetic relationships of species based on the assumption that they cannot be compared to non molecular methods such as comparative anatomy. The molecular clock helps us discover organisms that have a little common traits or features between evolutionary relationships.
Basement membrane
A thin extracellular layer upon which an epithelial rests is called a basement membrane.
Basement membrane is a specialised form of extracellular matrix on which a layer of epithelial cells rests . The basement membrane is made up of a mixture of collagens, and glycoproteins such as perlecan, heparan sulphate and entactin. The basement membrane supports the overlying epithelium by preventing any association between the epithelial cells and the other cells present within the tissue. The basement membrane also functions as a molecular filter as it permit only water and tiny molecules to move through.
Hello TierraNicole9864
Here are three reasons cells undergo mitosis:
#1: To reproduce -- mitosis is the way that cells reproduce and create their own "offspring" in order to repopulate.
#2: To restore dying cells -- mitosis is the division of cells in order to create new ones, and to replace these cells that are fading away.
#3: To repair damaged cells -- cells divide themselves in order to help other cells that are not doing so well.
Mitosis is a very important procedure that happens very often in many living beings.
Hope This Helps!
