The Anglo-Saxon value that is most in evidence in this case is loyalty. We can see that the Geats are loyal to Beowulf because they sit by the lake as Beowulf does battle with Grendel's mother. Loyalty is one of the most important values of the Anglo-Saxon, and this is demonstrated in several instances throughout <em>Beowulf</em>.
