Answer:
December 12th, xxxx
2 weeks ago the government declared the country free of the virus. Today was my first day outside.
I'd forgotten what fresh air felt like, what it smelled like. It felt so clean and freeing compared to the stuffiness of my home. It's been a year since the virus reached here, 11 months since they declared everyone had to quarantine themselves sick or not, and 6 months since I lost contact with everyone I knew.
The streets were barren and quiet and the houses were already far into disrepair. On the doors were painted red X's, I turned to find one on my own door.
"But I was never tested..." I thought
There were a few scattered burn barrels that were aflame and an abandoned bio-hazard suit.
I walked around and knocked on my neighbors doors and called out to someone--anyone, but no one ever answered any of my knocks or calls.
"Am I the last one?" I thought as I left my neighborhood to continue my search.
I wasn't sure what virus you had meant, so I took some creative liberties. Hope this helps whether it's correct or not :)
