Hawks can be considered as a limiting factor for mice population as they feed upon them and hence restrict mice's population from growing in an uncontrolled manner in a given ecosystem. When this limiting factor is removed, the population of mice will outburst.
Humans hunt the hawks which lead to decrease in their population. As the the number of hawks get reduced , the number of mice killed by them also gets reduced . Therefore, more mice will be alive to reproduce and increase their population.
