The oxymorons in Romeo’s dialogue emphasize the anger he feels toward a certain woman. his certainty about his romantic fate. the extreme emotions that he is feeling. his confusion about Benvolio’s advice.
The author gives us all the background information needed to understand the play. Romeo is an enthusiastic man who falls in love with a woman who shows no interest in him. So the author expresses here Romeo's feelings of hopeless and sadness. That's why Romeo's dialogue emphasize the extreme emotions that he is feeling.
I am guessing this is when the first girl he loved, did not love him back. Romeo is a hopeless romantic who feels as if he needs love to survive. But when he falls in love with Juliet, he dies anyway. That is why they are called the "star crossed lovers." Benvolio wanted him to just move on and continue with his life.
