In the excerpt from Chapter 12 of Charlotte Brontë's "Jane Eyre," Jane describes her feelings after she aids a traveler who has fallen while riding his horse. In that respect, on the way to the village of Hay, she witnesses how the horse slips on the icy road, and stops to assist the gentleman. Before she learns the man is Mr Rochester -her master- she cannot help but feel needed, accomplished and contented about the circumstance.
