Imagine you are the speaker in ñThe Seafarerî and another seaman has told you to turn away from God and believe in your own abil
ity to deal with life. How would you respond? Write a short essay in which you explain why you can or cannot take this personÍs advice. Remember that you are the speaker in the poem and that your reasons and examples should come from the poem.
The Seafarer is a very religious person - he is all alone at sea and there is no one to talk to besides God. He has nothing else left but his faith and if you told him to forget about it, he would cease to exist. He couldn't believe in his own ability to deal with life because he depends on providence and God's plans for him. Hope this helps a bit! :)
