Surface runoff refers to the flow of water from rain, snow melt or other sources ,that flows of the land surface. Wetland is a land that occupies water either permanently or seasonally. Wetlands are formed when the large depression exists in the land and water from any source like river, streams of river or ocean gets accumulated inside the depression. It results in formation of water body in a land, for example lakes, pond or estuary. The water in the wetland can be freshwater or saline water, depending on the source of water.
Therefore, surface water collect in the wetland if it does not flow to the ocean.
