To determine the equation when slope is given and (x,y) coordinates are given, use the below formula:
(y - y₁) = m × (x - x₁) .................. (i)
We have been given that m = 3, x₁ = 2 and y₁ = 1)
Substituting the values of m, x₁ and y₁ in (i)
(y - 1) = 3 × (x-2)
⇒ y - 1 = 3x - 6
⇒ y = 3x - 5
So the required equation is y = 3x -5, here 3 is the slope and -5 is the y-intercept
