The correct answer to this open question is the following.
Once, I set a goal and did not accomplish it because I lacked the commitment needed to accomplish it. Plain and simple.
But I want to share a time when I set a goal and successfully achieved it because I changed my attitude, show the proper commitment, and set clear goals that helped me to accomplish what I desired.
As I wrote above, I failed in the first example because I did not commit to the things that were necessary to do in order to get what I wanted. I did not take things seriously.
However, I was successful in my second example because I understood the lesson the first time I failed. I realized how the other people showed a different attitude than mine and they got better results.
It is true that effective goal-setting helps us achieve goals because they help us to get a clear picture of what we want and the things we need to do to get them.
Some characteristics of good goals are that they have to be specific, measurable, and attainable.
My three goals are:
Short-term.
To improve my school marks from an average of B to B+ the next semester, beginning in January 2021.
One mid-term. To be a first-team player on the basketball team of my school by March 2021.
Long-term. To get an opportunity to go to a summer exchange to a foreign country in the summer of 2022, to learn how people live and learn from a different culture.
