Narratives usually display five essential elements: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution (or <em>dénouement</em>). The resolution of a text is the part of a story where the main problem is resolved or worked out. This typically signals the point in which the story ends. However, in a tragic resolution, the problem is not worked out in a satisfactory way. Instead, the problem ends in a negative way for the protagonist.
