One of the bolded words is: "the roar of a bulldozer..." and this is used to create imagery and dramatic effect of the careless action of the construction company and their apparent disregard for the gopher tortoise that is listed as a protected species.

Another bolded part is shown in: "the darkness hugs you tightly in its arms and you are gone" as imagery is used again as the speaker wants to be as visually descriptive as possible to show the audience just how helpless the tortoises were and how callous the construction company was.

<h3>What is Imagery? </h3>

This refers to the use of visually descriptive words to show and create a mental image in the minds of the readers about the thing that is being described.
