Erwin Schrödinger developed electron cloud model.
He suggested that atoms have a central nucleus made up of protons and neutrons. Around it is the "probability region" where electrons are most likely to be found.
The higher the density, the more likely the electron will be found in this region.
This dense probability region is called an electron cloud.
As this region carries only negatively charged electrons, thus the overall charge of the electron cloud is negative.
