Background: The only technique that can produce noninvasive skin tightening is nonablative radiofrequency (NARF). However, a key drawback of this method is that it causes considerable discomfort throughout the treatment. to produce skin contraction leading to the lifting of eyebrows and/or improvement of lower face and neck skin laxity using fluences below pain levels.
A less painful option was evaluated using a novel nonablative medical device called Titan (Cutera, Inc., Brisbane, CA, USA), which can achieve fluences substantially lower than those available with NARF. 25 patients were treated, using the nonablative radiofrequency. Prior to the treatment, a few days, a few weeks, and up to 12 months later, standardized pictures were taken.
Results: 22 out of 25 patients had immediate changes after nonablative radiofrequency. Photos underwent analysis, and it was discovered that the initial improvement remained during the follow-up time.
