It was on a sunny evening, my parents were out of town for the weekend and I thought it was a good idea to invite some friends over and have a party.
The party started soon after with music blaring, enough liquor (even though we were not up to eighteen), and plenty of necking.
The night was going on really well as my crush Tabitha seemed very interested in me that evening. We were walking hand in hand and she laughed at all my lame jokes, perhaps she was tipsy.
My dad had a gun in his bedroom upstairs which he always kept locked. I did not put too much thought to it, but quite a number of teenagers were in my parents' room, doing what teenagers do best.
Suddenly I heard a loud bang, we all went upstairs quickly and saw Raphael lying in a pool of blood. It appeared that he was playing with the gun, perhaps not knowing it was loaded and mistakenly squeezed the trigger.
A once-happy party turned sour in the twinkling of an eye. All I wanted was for the poor lad to be safe. I called 911 and he was taken to ICU.

One primary theme of Jack London's The call of the wild is the conflict between civilization and wildness. We realise the difference between the two when the protagonist of the story, Buck is kidnapped and taken to Alaska. Chapter Two of the story is called the law of club and fang. The law of club is what Buck's master puts in place in order for buck to obey. The law of fang however can be described as the rules of "wild" dogs which are set to determine and maintain hierarchy. Buck struggles to adapt to the changes that are now around him for he wad once a gentleman's dog.
When Buck meets his second owner John Thornton he feels as though he has finally found a steady footing. In a way Thornton's death allows Buck to release his caged up instincts.

Free verse poetry differs from formal verse in that with free verse the writer is not constricted by rules of length, stanza and rhyming. Whereas in formal verse there are certain rules as stated earlier that must be adhered to when writing poetry such as Haiku or Sonnets.
